     Domestic Travel
Reservation:passengers may book tickets from airlines’ ticket offices or their sales agents. Actual purchase must be completed within a certain period after reservation or by a deadline as specified by the flight company or the ticketing agent. Reservation expires after the deadline. An open date ticket will not be valid until a seat is confirmed.

Ticket Purchase:Chinese residents must provide personal identification cards or other valid identification and fill out order forms to purchase air tickets. International passengers, overseas Chinese, or residents of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan must hold valid passports, re-entry permits, Taiwanese mainland visitor permits, permits of residence, travel permits, or other valid identification documents issued by a public security organ, along with an order form. Passengers, who keep transfer tickets or round-trip tickets and stay in the place of transfer or return for over 72 hours, need to confirm their seats before noon two days prior to the return or transfer flight. Otherwise, the seat may not be available for them.

Ticket: an air ticket bears the complete name of the passenger for his or her personal use only. Ticket transferences or name changes may result in voidance of the ticket; in such cases, no refund will be given. Passengers holding international and domestic through tickets with transfers at Chinese airports may use the through passes and do not need to buy additional tickets for the transfers. If a passenger purchases a domestic ticket from overseas to continue an international flight separately, he or she needs to change the ticket for domestic travel. Definite date tickets must be used for the date and flight as specified on the ticket. The expiration date for a domestic air ticket is one year, starting from the first day of travel for a definite date ticket, and from 12 pm on the date of purchase of an open date ticket.

Junior Tickets:young passengers who are older than two years and younger than twelve years are eligible for 50% price of a regular adult ticket. Passengers traveling with a baby who is younger than two years and who does not take a separate seat will need a ticket at the price of 10% of the adult ticket. Each passenger is limited to the price for one eligible baby. The ticket price covers the air transport between the departing and arriving places, excluding ground transportation to or from the airport.

Ticket Refund: rules of refund vary depending on individual airlines.

Check-in Procedures:passengers are supposed to be present at the airport a certain time earlier than the departure time as defined by airlines and have their valid identification documents to check in baggage and receive boarding passes. Check-in requirements vary depending on airlines but generally, check-in procedures stop 45 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport especially reminds that passengers must check in at least 90 minutes prior to departure.

Missing Flight:missing a flight means that a passenger is not able to board a flight because he or she has not completed the boarding procedures by a specified time or his or her travel documents do not meet the appropriate requirements. In case of flight missing, passengers may reschedule or get refund at the airport or the ticketing office. If they want to take a later flight on which seats are available, the airline company is supposed to accommodate without charging fees. Charges are applicable to refund requests for missing flight.

Health:individuals with serious illnesses must have medical certificates to testify to the appropriateness of flight taking and get permission by the airline company or its agents before they can get tickets.

Carry-on Baggage:each passenger is limited to 5 kg for carry-on luggage. First class ticket holders each may bring two items onto plane while a business or economy passenger is limited to one item. The maximum volume of each carry-on item is 20×40×55 cm. Over-the-limit baggage may be shipped as checked items.

Free Baggage Limit:carry-on and checked baggage for each passenger are limited as follows: for first class passengers, 40 kg; business passengers, 30 kg; economy passengers, 20 kg. Babies are not eligible for free baggage. Amount of baggage for companion passengers may be combined. As to free baggage amount for domestic travel as a transfer from international transport, regulations for international flights apply.

Items Banned from Passenger baggage and Personal Effects:passengers are not allowed to take weapons or sharp tools onto plane. Banned items include inflammable, explosive, corrosive, toxic, radioactive, polyreactive, magnetic or any other hazardous products or materials. In additional to these restricted, dangerous items, any stuff that has a peculiar smell or may have defiling effects on the aircraft is prohibited from either carry-on or checked luggage. Before or during transportation, the airline company may refuse or suspend luggage that contain any of the listed items. Other items unallowable in checked baggage include important documents and materials, diplomatic envelopes, stocks, currencies, traveler checks, precious goods, fragile objects, and items that demand special care.

Compensation:the loss or partial or complete damage of checked baggage during air transportation will be compensated with a maximum rate of 100 yuan per kilogram. Compensation will be made according to the actual cost if the value is less than 100 yuan. Excess baggage fees, if paid, will be refunded in case of loss or damage. The weight of the lost baggage is determined according to the actual check-in weight. The maximum amount of compensation for baggage with unclear weight will at the free baggage limit. Passengers may fill out a claim form for items with an over 100 yuan per kilogram value and pay a 5‰ additional fee for the claimed amount that is over the maximum per kilogram value in Chinese yuan. In case of loss, the compensation is made according to the claimed value while the additional fee is non-refundable. The highest claimed value is limited to 8,000 yuan.

Security Check:before taking flights, passengers and their carry-on and checked luggage need to go through security check.

Airline Responsibilities for Flight Delay:for delays or cancellation of flights at the departure airport due to aircraft maintenance and other commercial or crew deployments, the airline company is responsible for providing passengers necessary services such as meals and/or lodging. For delays or cancellations for reasons that the carrier is not able to control, such as bad weather conditions, emergencies, air traffic control, security issues, or passenger-engendered difficulties, the airline company may provide food and/or lodging at the passenger’s own cost. For delays or cancellations at stopping airports for whatever reasons, the airline company is responsible for meals and/lodging. In case of accidental bodily harms to passengers, the maximum amount of compensation the airline company pays is calculated according to the State Council’s pertinent regulations.

Loss of E-tickets: a lost e-ticket and itinerary must be reported in writing, along with adequate supporting documents, to the airline company or its agent. The airline company is not responsible if the lost ticket has been falsely claimed by others before the written report is submitted.

Passenger Insurance:passengers may decide to purchase domestic aviation accidental personal insurance policies from insurance companies. The payment of such insurances does not exclude the responsible compensation by the involved airlines.

Pet Shipping:according to pertinent aviation regulations, passengers may travel with pets but must apply for pet shipping when purchasing the ticket. The applicant must provide quarantine certificates issued by an above-county-level medical institution and receive the airlines’ permission. Upon permission, the applying passenger must appear at the airport beforehand to complete procedures to put the pet as a checked item. The passenger makes sure that the pet is safely put in a container or cage made of iron and that no animal excrement leaks into the checked baggage cabin. Pets and their food and cages or containers will be treated as excess baggage items.

Banned Items:for aviation safety, airline personnel inspects checked baggage to ensure no inflammable, explosive, corrosive, toxic, radioactive, magnetic, or any other dangerous items are on the plane.

    International Travel
Reservation:passengers may book tickets from airlines’ ticket offices or their sales agents. Passengers who have reserved seats for international or regional flights, including transferring passengers, are supposed to cancel their seats as early as possible if they expect not to take the flights. Passengers who have international or regional flight reservations and stay at the departing place for over 72 hours are expected to have their seats confirmed at least 72 hours prior to the scheduled departure time to avoid seat cancellation. No confirmation is necessary if the stay in the return or transfer place is within 72 hours.

Ticket: the ticket along with the baggage ticket is a contract between the airlines and the passenger and proof of checked baggage. The ticket bears the complete name of the passenger for his or her personal use only. Ticket transferences or name changes may result in voidance of the ticket; in such cases, no refund will be given. The expiration dates for non-discount and discount airfares vary as pertinent to the types.

Junior Tickets: definitions of age range for junior tickets vary depending on the specific airline companies.

Ticket Refund:passengers may apply for refund at the purchasing location or other places authorized by the airline company according to pertinent regulations for ticket refunding.

Free Baggage Limit:limit varies according to ticket classes: for first class passengers, 40 kg; business passengers, 30 kg; economy passengers, 20 kg. No baby traveler with tickets of 10% of adult ticket price is eligible for free baggage.

Number of Free Baggage:the number count of baggage applies to flights between China and the United States, and between China and Canada. Numbers of free checked baggage for such flights vary: first class and business class, two baggage items, with each in a maximum 62 inches (158 cm) of the total measure of three dimensions (width, length, and height). For economy class and discount packages, the number and volume limits are the same, but the total sum of the two baggage items cannot be over 107 inches (273 cm) and each within 23 kg. A baby traveler with tickets of 10% of adult ticket price is eligible for free baggage limited to 45 inches (115 cm) of the maximum measure of the dimensions. In addition, a folding or handy baby carriage or cart is free for checking. Excess baggage is subject to fees.

Carry-on Items:in addition to the free checked baggage, each passenger is eligible for one of the following items as a free carry-on item: a lady handbag, overcoat or raincoat, travel blanket, walking stick, umbrella, small camera, small telescope, baby food for travel use, cradle, foldable wheelchair or a pair of crutches or artificial limbs.

Items Banned from Passenger Baggage and Personal Effects:passengers are not allowed to take weapons or sharp tools onto plane. Banned checked and carry-on items include inflammable, explosive, corrosive, toxic, radioactive, polyreactive, magnetic or any other hazardous products or materials. In addition, passengers are prohibited to travel with items banned or restricted from crossing national borders by the People’s Republic of China laws, policies, or regulations. Valuable items that are not allowed in checked baggage include currencies, jewelry, bills, and marketable securities.

Travel Documents:international passengers must hold valid passports with appropriate visas and other necessary travel documents. These documents are not supposed to be put in checked baggage. Passengers take whole responsibilities for incompleteness of the required documents. The airlines will not be responsible for any effects of incomplete travel documents.

Freight Consignment:international freight must pass customs clearance before it can be transported. The freight, supported with all necessary documentation, is supposed to be in compliance with concerned countries’ regulations for entering and exiting or passing the national borders.

Banned Goods:inflammable, explosive, corrosive, toxic, and other dangerous goods are prohibited from transport. For aviation safety, all goods must be inspected by the shipping airlines. Hazardous cargoes that are allowed to be transported on international routes must follow pertinent regulations by the airlines in terms of name, amount, and packaging of the goods.
